Map of Medicine
The Map of Medicine is an online tool for developing clinical best practice. During the course of my work, it developed from a static learning tool to an integrated clinical system. I led the key strands of UE work for this transition.
What I did
- Planning and facilitating participatory design sessions
- Running usability test sessions
- Running card sorting sessions
- Designing rich internet application wireframes and prototypes
- Team and client management
- Workshop facilitation
As a Lead Experience Architect, I ran strands of work to integrate the Map of Medicine with major clinical systems to deliver key functionality like drug prescribing, referral management and test ordering.
My work focused on simplifying the complex clinical system UI and building logical flows in the Map of Medicine. As part of this, I created an entirely new interaction paradigm for the product and sold it in to stakeholders.
You can see the Map in action by visiting the NHS Choices site. Here’s a sample map that may come in handy this winter.
